Re: 2024 Obituaries
RIP Jimmy Johnson A pioneering shut down cornerback who deserved to be on a championship team. Not many QBs would throw in his area and just across the Bay in Oakland, was another great cornerback as well in Willie Brown. Had I lived in that era and area as a young man, I would have went to Kezar an...

Re: Hypothetical post merger Playoff Bowls
Thanks again SeahawksFever for an interesting post ... Hypothetical SB Matchups/Playoff Bowls Two ... I feel in an early 2003 SB, the Titans would have beaten the Eagles who didn't have quality wide receivers. I felt the 2008 Ravens were stronger than the Eagles, even with a rookie QB and would have...

Re: Hypothetical post merger Playoff Bowls
Like 74_75_78_79 stated, an interesting list of matchups that could have been SB matchups, rather than playing in a losers bowl. I don't believe the Cowboys without Calvin Hill could have beaten the Raiders in early 1974 however ... I don't believe the Jets would have beaten the Cowboys in early 198...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
Good scenario 7D ... although if Allen would have stayed in Washington like he should have, I don't think Rosenbloom would have hired Walsh. Paul Brown did a good job of telling others that Walsh was too emotional to be a HC and it was Al Davis that let Walsh know what was being said. Though Walsh d...

Re: Hypothetical post merger Playoff Bowls
After losing tough championship games, the players wouldn't have cared about another game. It's amazing the Pro Bowl got any motivation from players, other than the money and a free trip to Hawaii ...

Re: Were 10-6 49ers of '91 as good as record indicated?
McDonald could have played linebacker but I don't think Woodall could have played safety. Hanks was an All-Pro and second team All-Pro three times with 33 interceptions and six TDs, with four PBs as well ... hyped by the media, sure, but the best teams are always overexposed ... Stubblefield could p...

Re: Were 10-6 49ers of '91 as good as record indicated?
Good points by all, yet Merton Hanks had big-play ability on those defenses for SF. Norton was better for Dallas but still contributed to three straight SB wins, not too shabby. The Niners had every chance to win the NFC in 90, 92, 93, 95, 96, 97 and 98 but floundered once they played better defense...

Re: 2024 Obituaries
If career assistant coaches ever have a shot at HOF election, Joe Collier is certainly worthy. Very resourceful and successful.
Head coaching career would have been much better had Kemp, Powell, Sestak and others stayed healthy ...

Re: Michael Strahan- Did he only make the HOF because of his storybook ending?
Being in NY hasn't helped other deserving players for the HOF. Cuff, Conerly, Shofner, Patton, Katcavage, Barnes and T Barber, are still waiting for their chance. Strahan was deserving. RIP Aaron Thomas ... An underrated, career receiver for the Giants, including others like Kyle Rote, Amani Toomer,...

Re: 2024 Obituaries
RIP Aaron Thomas
A talented receiver listed as a tight end. Imagine if a contender could have gotten him from the Giants, when they floundered but Tarkenton needed him on the team. TDs to receptions ratio was pretty good and he only lost one or two fumbles his entire career.
