Re: Your opinion of Paul Brown after the Walsh revelations
I think it was simply a case of Brown trying to protect his decision and make sure he wasn't second guessed at the expense of Walsh. What is to say the same thing would not have happened to Walsh had he stayed with the Bengals? It's not like anything would have been much different with the Brown's i...

They're Playing My Game
I just finished reading They're playing My game by Hank Stram. I found this a rather odd book in that it starts off a forward by Len Dawson followed by two tributes one from Lamar Hunt and the other Dale Stram which is fairly normal. What follows is a biography written by Lou Sahadi. Which reminded ...

Re: Favorite/Least Favorite football 'expressions'
“establish the run” First, rushing is an essential part of the game and it’s expected, so you don’t need to establish it. Second, the inevitable idea that you run so you can pass has been disproven by Pro Football Outsiders relative to the modern game: most rushing yards now come late in the game b...

Re: Kareem Hunt
If you watch the video you can clearly see that both Hunt and the lady involved were wasted. My guess is that they had been partying together.....maybe sleeping together. And a combination of alcohol, potentially some drugs, and them likely being angry at eachother prompted the incident.[/quote] Sou...

Re: Kareem Hunt
I worry that some of it is due to what I classified years ago as the OJ syndrome. I first came up with this while watching the OJ trial where his entire life story unfolded, and I am treading into thin ice here. What I am saying is that for many of these young athletes who come from nothing (from m...

Re: Owens choosing not to attend his Hall of Fame induction
Going back to my post I was asked to explain what I thought needed tweeking. One thing that makes me laugh is the description of the process by the HOF on their website. From my understanding the "discussion" about the candidate is more of a sales pitch but I may be arguing over symantics....

Re: Owens choosing not to attend his Hall of Fame induction
Most of you guys sound like petulant children. It was his honor and he has a right to celebrate it how and where he likes. I know it's his way of telling the NFL @#$% You and that in itself is rather childish but that is the way he feels. Deal with it. Sometimes traditions need something like this t...

Re: Chuck Bednarik
I had the honor of meeting Mr. Bednarik briefly and while he may have been a bit gruff he was like a lot of guys from his generation and I'm not talking about just football players. They bitched and complained that there kids grew their hair and protested a war. Then they bitched that their grandkid...

Re: Somewhat historic Mike Mularkey firing
My understanding from the media reports is that it was a parting of ways. I believe management wanted Mularkey to make some adjustments to his staff and he refused. Now granted I don't know which side told the media that story. I think that maybe he should have considered it. While I agree he did a ...
