Re: Freezer Bowl

Both of the Eagles back-to-back Championships (1948&49) were played under atrocious conditions. 1948 Championship in Philly: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_NFL_Championship_Game Due to heavy snowfall, the grounds crew needed the help of players from both teams to remove the tarp from the fie...

Re: 2023 - 24 season first round playoff schedule

I know. It's bullshit. And like you, I am surprised this hasn't happened sooner. In a few years they'll be selling games by the quarter and placing Burger King ads on jerseys. https://www.yahoo.com/news/one-person-power-stop-nfl-175829943.html I'm doing my part. I'm watching the Warriors on free tv.

Re: Modern Candidates HOF Preliminary List

O'Neil wasn't in the preliminary ballot for 2024. Given that he played his last game in 1999, isn't he eligible for the Hall of Very Good? One needs to be out of football for 25 years. They are not eligible in their 25th year. This upcoming year (if I am not mistaken) will have players who last pla...

Re: Three titans gone

NFL.com said that Mayo "had it in his contract" that he would succeed Belichick when the time came and that they avoided a "lengthy hiring process" by sharing this info with the NFL. My question is: How does this supplant the "Rooney Rule" about interviewing minority pr...

Re: Jimmy Graham, 6 catches 4 TDs this year

I would like to know if a similar list can be do for running backs. Off the top of my head I remember when Raiders RB Zack Crockett scored a lot of 1-yard TDs from 2000-2003 with few carries. And of course the 1979 Chargers-Raiders TNF game when Booker Russell scored three 1-yard TDs in his only th...

Phil Bengston immediately comes to mind.
Although, in a way, he was set up for failure as Vince's Packers were pretty much in decline by the time Phil got the HC job.

And, of course, it is.

Re: 'Bye-'bye, Pac-12

I've said many times (including on this board) that so much in life is ruined by bucks and bullshit. Tradition, the common good and common sense get trampled by greed and power grabs. And not just sports. It's just never-ending. And yeah, get off my lawn.... "Bucks and Bullshit!" The new ...

Re: John Madden

Agree with all of the above. Many here might say that he was a borderline Hall of Fame coach. And he certainly became a caricature of himself as time went on. But his legacy probably is, as Crazy said, that silly game that has created so many football fanatics (even among the players). The one thing...
