Re: NFL MVP's who didn't deserve to win

What's ur take on Bananas', 74_75_78_79?

Lost his desire? Not the same after injuries, or simply one of the first 90s players to check out after a big payday? Many free agents would follow the same example ...

Re: NFL MVP's who didn't deserve to win

Good discussion on 1992. I felt Sharpe in GB carried his team as much as Foster in Pitts. Smith and Young had great seasons as well but when a QB leads a team to 14 wins, he will usually get more attention ... Foster had that great season but after two more injury plagued seasons, was out of footbal...

Re: 1997 Raiders Defense

Good question? It's rare for a QB to have a 3-1 TDs-to-interceptions ratio and win only 4 games, but we are also talking about Jeff George, who wasn't known for inspiring or setting an example for his teammates, which in my opinion is what a QB is paid to do. Great stats or not, he was also sacked 5...

Re: 2024 Obituaries

I might be the only person in North America that believes he didn't do it. I still believe drug dealers in association with Faye Resnick, did the actual killing ... Ron Goldman was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. I actually dated a woman who looked like Nicole Brown Simpson. Like Nicole...

Re: 1959 Packers

I hope the series mentions Jack Vainisi and the talent he brought in, along with with his role in helping Lombardi get the job. I haven't watched it yet ... I wonder if it will spotlight the team getting rid of Billy Howton, then Timmy Brown after the season?

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread

Good call JuggarnautJ, but Young did feel that Walsh respectfully mislead him, and neither understood how mentally strong and competitive Montana was about keeping his job and standard of play. Most athletes are determined to start at all costs--even if going to another team-- but Young believed mos...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread

NFL fans still have to wonder why nobody offered enough to pry Young from SF but maybe plenty tried and either he said no, or SF management said no ... Montana himself wondered why Young didn't go and start somewhere else but I believe Steve was determined to succeed him just to justify/show up Bill...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread

Great scenario 7D ... With the Chiefs, they were just trying to get fans into Arrowhead in 1988 and DeBerg was trying to keep his job so there were no meaningless comebacks. Yes, they lost out on Aikman but could have tried to get Young from SF or Favre later on, in the draft. They drafted a QB in t...

Re: Obscure trivia

Surprised Rutigliano won in 1979 considering his team lost it's last two games to miss the playoffs. Especially losing to the Bengals, who had three wins going into the final regular season game. They did have a rough schedule though, playing many quality teams ... I would have voted for John McKay ...
