Re: 1962 AFL draft mystery
Jacque MacKinnon, listed D33 in the 1962 AFL draft for San Diego, played for the 1961 Chargers and signed with them May 17. Duane Allen, listed D33 in the 1962 AFL draft for Denver, played for the 1961 Rams. Everisto Nino, listed D31 in the 1962 AFL draft for Dallas, was signed by the 1961 49ers on ...

Re: question about the Rozelle rule
The Dolphins did get comp for Csonka, Kiick, and Warfield when they returned to the NFL. When Csonka signed with the Giants on April 7, 1976 (after Joe Robbie scoffed at Csonka's demand for a five year, $2M contract...which, as it turned out, would have been a stretch for what was left in Zonk's ta...

Re: question about the Rozelle rule
Cullen Bryant sued when Rozelle attempted to include him as compensation for Ron Jessie. That lawsuit ended this era of free agency. Do you know when that lawsuit had a ruling issued? I believe Ron Jaworksi signing with the Eagles was also subject to Rozelle Rules, but they worked out the 'compensa...

Re: question about the Rozelle rule
I think the compensation had to be decided on before the player could join his new team. This happened in the Dick Gordon case, where Gordon signed with the Rams in 1972. Gordon couldn't join the Rams until October 12th because Halas disputed the compensation. Halas wanted players, the Rams wanted t...

Re: What happened to Pro Football Archives?
Web sites take time and money to operate and we can't take them for granted. That being said, I hate to see original work disappear. Of most use was the minor league information, exhibition games, and draftee information that helped me separate players with similar names. Perhaps some alternative so...

Re: Eagles at Falcons NFCCG, 1980
I'd pick the Eagles. Not a fan of teams with bad pass defense in that era, which is why the Falcons lost to the Cowboys in the first place

Re: Jimmy Graham, 6 catches 4 TDs this year
I would like to know if a similar list can be do for running backs. Off the top of my head I remember when Raiders RB Zack Crockett scored a lot of 1-yard TDs from 2000-2003 with few carries. And of course the 1979 Chargers-Raiders TNF game when Booker Russell scored three 1-yard TDs in his only th...

Re: WRs who could/should have won MVP
Whats funny, is when running backs get over 20 TDs in a season, everyone yawns; when a wide receiver does it, its like "Great Scott! MVP! Of the 11 receivers in NFL/AFL/AAFC history with 17 TDs or more in a season, Moss has the most with 3, with Rice having 2. They are the only ones with over ...

Re: WRs who could/should have won MVP
Looking at the differences in the vote between AP Offensive Player of the year and MVP can be screwy. I'd vote the same for both, but apparently a lot of people don't. Usually QBs do better in MVP but not always. Sometimes one QB will leap over another in the MVP voting as well. Jerry Rice in 1987 w...
