Re: Steelers in 1964; the second of 2 Great Victories
He deserves the HOF based on his coaching the Detriot Lions. The Lions, Browns, and Rams were the three big teams when Parker coached Detriot. Take a look and I think he won 2 NFL titles and lost one by a 56 to 10 score to Cleveland.

The 3-7 Pittsburgh Steelers went to Yankee Stadium to play the 2-6-2 New York Giants. First Quarter-The Steelers took the opening kickoff and, running alternately with John Henry Johnson and Clarence Peaks, moved to the NY 3. The drive stalled and Mike Clark kicked a ten yard field goal. The Giants ...

Re: 1958 Giants v. Browns regular season finale
The Giants with a late season rally had a 8-3 record. They were one game behind the 9-2 Cleveland Browns. A tie would have given Cleveland the title. Earlier in the season the Giants had defeated the Browns 21 to 17. Interesting story, Leonard. You are correct about the tie giving Cleveland the tit...

e Steelers had the first of eight consecutive losing seasons in 1964. There were, however, two solid performances. Week 5 at Cleveland on a Saturday night. Philadelphia Eagles Best Thanksgiving in Detriot
Following and even intensifying a trend, the Eagles had a losing steak at the start of 1968- 11 games. A discouraged team came into muddy Tiger Stadium for the Thanksgiving Day national telecast. The Detroit Lions were 4-6-2 and a ten point favorite. Rain starting the day before made for a wet, mudd...

Re: 1958 Giants v. Browns regular season finale
I am from Pittsburgh but I also enjoyed watching the New York Giants. On the first weekend of 1958, the Steelers were playing in San Francisco, losing to the 49ers 23 to 20. It was cost prohibitive for CBS to telecast the game back to Pittsburgh. Nevertheless, we were entitled to a game since no tea...

Re: Baltimore and the 1970 Colts
The AFC Championship Game in 1970 had the Colts hosting the Oakland Raiders. Early in the second quarter, the Colts grabbed a 10 to 0 lead. Bubba Smith and Roy Hilton then crashed into Daryl Lamonica, who was attempting to pass. With Lamonica's season over, in came George Blanda. The 43 year-old had...

Re: STEELERS/EAGLES History
There were notable games in Steeler vs Eagle history such as 1959 at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, Bobby Layne threw four touchdown passes with the Steelers winning 31 to 0. Layne still had some zip in his arm. 1960 same place. John Henry Johnson set a Steeler record gaining 182 yards, 88 of those yar...
