Re: Wards of the League (new book about the 1952 Dallas Texans)
I spoke with Mike a few times while he was shopping for a publisher. He shared with me a lot about the story and his research. This book is an important one for anybody serious about the history of the league, as this is really the only material that I'm aware of that draws information about the 195...

Re: punting career of Bill Bradley
I've gotten to chat with him some - and he told me that he made the Eagles as a punter. If you're aware of the Big 33 high school all-star game, he said he made the Texas team as a punter first, backup QB second - so, his punting goes all the way back to high school. He said he started playing DB in...

Re: Aaron Donald Retires
First ballot HOF. Alan Page and Joe Greene are the only two DT that I've seen that compare. I'm not quite old enough to remember Bob Lilly. But Donald is one of those guys who is one of the greats at his position. The Packers beat the Rams in the playoffs the year before the Rams won the Super Bowl....

Re: Another 'NFL Throwback' from YouTube - EVERY SUPER BOWL RANKED
I'm not knocking them down as to what players/coaches did before or after. I just focus on the season a team made the SB and won or lost it. If a team catches lightening in a bottle, and rides that to a dominant season for just that year, it's weird to me to penalize. I guess if I am judging Super ...

Re: Another 'NFL Throwback' from YouTube - EVERY SUPER BOWL RANKED
First Super Bowl I watched was SB 11. SB 13 is still one of the best IMO. SB 14 was also great. I agree that the Patriots/Panthers Super Bowl was another very exciting game and underrated with the other two I mentioned. My Top 10 of games I watched live as they happened would be (including the last ...

Re: Frankie Albert-The First South Paw Quarterback
Upton Bell, born in 1937, had to be referring to when CS was official with Bears ... not when he was friends with Halas at Univ of Chi and shared ideas on T But still ... would like to know what he means by "new" that was designed circa 1951+ as per the flanker position 2024-02-21_19-44-3...

Re: Obscure trivia
And then my next thought was Elroy Hirsch - that's it. 24 games.

EDIT: Okay, now I see I clicked the receiving yards column. PFR has those listed first on his profile. But I still got Sayers right.

Re: Obscure trivia
Well, my first guess after Brown and Perry was that Steve Van Buren might have done it - so close with 18. Of course, he had a few 10-game regular seasons.
My next guess - Gale Sayers. 20 exactly.

Re: 1990's Chiefs
Before Schottenheimer, KC went to the playoffs only one time since the Dolphins playoff game in 1971. He won three division titles. Hank Stram won 4 in his tenure, which was much longer. Before KC, Marty made winners out of the Cleveland Browns. I understand that he didn't go to the Super Bowl with ...
