Re: Disappointing title defenses

It has to be the 1947 Chicago Cardinals. They've been trying to repeat for 73 seasons.

Re: Lambeau Field

The present is built upon the foundations of the past. It's sad that a man such as Vince Lombardi, a member of Fordham's famous Seven Blocks of Granite of the 1930s, would slight the greatness of football past. The same applies to the Giants of the '50s-'60s. Heritage is a precious gift that should ...

Re: Trivia - Unique Facts About Consecutive Super Bowls

I'm not sure if a player has to play in the Super Bowl or only be a member of a team, but QB Gale Gilbert was a member of five consecutive Super Bowl teams: Buffalo '90-'93 and San Diego '94.

Re: Obscure things remembered about somewhat obscure players

I'm not sure if this would qualify but it illustrates the crazy vagaries of life. Manfred Moore was an outstanding special teams player with the 49ers in 1974-'75. In 1976 he endured an 0-13 start as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Waived after the thirteenth game he was signed for the last ga...

Re: Roethlisberger for the HOF?

Make of this whatever you will, but Roethlisberger is the only QB to have three 500 yd passing games. The Steelers were victorious in all of them. The argument regarding Ben's backup QBs is mostly silly. In 2008, Tom Brady was lost for the season in the first game yet the Patriots posted an 11-5 rec...

Re: What will the Redskins new name be?

I think Dan Snyder could create much goodwill if he renamed his team the Washington Little Big Horns. It would be a tribute to those Native Americans opposed to multiculturalism, tolerance, diversity and inclusion who massacred over two hundred white supremacists near the Little Big Horn river in Mo...

Re: Thoughts on these 60s-70s backup QBs

Someone I know from Pennsylvania has always said he thought Hanratty was the brains behind the Steelers offensive play calling. Is he correct? IDK There has always been a strong Notre Dame influence in Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania that has clouded the reputation of Hanratty . Terry was a cla...

Re: 1890s Western PA football

Andy Turk, are you familiar with the National Football League of 1902? The Pittsburgh team won the championship in the league's only season.
