Re: Seniors

To move onto a different player One player who looks like he could belong in the Hall of Fame based solely off of his resume (and is already in the Hall of Very Good here) is the Dolphins free safety Jake Scott. When I look at his resume, I see five pro bowls, four all pro teams (1972 and 1975 being...

Re: Hypothetical post merger Playoff Bowls

Had the 2019 conference runner-ups GB and TN met for the SB, I think the Titans might have upset the Packers. Derrick Henry was on a roll that postseason and had the Titans outscored the Chiefs in the championship game, Henry would have been rolling against the Packers as well. Yes, Rodgers was MVP...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated

When the NFC won 13 SB’s in a row, the conference was NOT truly deep and stacked Outside of the 85 Bears and 96 Packers- the 49ers and NFC East did most of the damage. You cannot tell me with a straight face that Minnesota/New Orleans of that era would have been a touchdown favorite in the SB. Ther...

Re: Records of one conference vs the other by year

This is great - where did you find it? I don't have the time but it would be interesting to compare what years each conference won the Super Bowl to these records. Colts won in 1970, I'd be curious what the Colts, Browns, and Steelers records were against NFC teams that year. Kind of surprised that...

Records of one conference vs the other by year

There are some seasons where one of the the conferences (AFC and NFC) is better by record. Here is the record of the NFC vs the AFC by year since 1970: 1970: 27-12-1 (.688) 1971: 23-15-2 (.600) 1972: 19-20-1 (.488) 1973: 19-19-2 (.500) 1974: 17-23 (.425) 1975: 17-23 (.425) 1976: 12-16 (.429) 1977: 9...

Re: Hypothetical post merger Playoff Bowls

Nice list! And time put into it! The problem with the 'Playoff Bowl' was you could never be sure if the winner won it because they were actually better or because the losing team simply wasn't motivated enough. We all know how Vince felt about the event. Playing for a bronze medal in the Olympics o...

Re: Were 10-6 49ers of '91 as good as record indicated?

I don't think the 49ers were as good as their record in 91, but that was true in several other 90's seasons as well, like 1990, 92, 93, 94, 96, 97, and 98. Those teams have more flaws than people give them credit for because people were brainwashed by the 9er-loving media that their players were th...

Re: Hypothetical post merger Playoff Bowls

Thanks again SeahawksFever for an interesting post ... Hypothetical SB Matchups/Playoff Bowls Two ... I feel in an early 2003 SB, the Titans would have beaten the Eagles who didn't have quality wide receivers. I felt the 2008 Ravens were stronger than the Eagles, even with a rookie QB and would hav...

Re: Hypothetical post merger Playoff Bowls

Like 74_75_78_79 stated, an interesting list of matchups that could have been SB matchups, rather than playing in a losers bowl. I don't believe the Cowboys without Calvin Hill could have beaten the Raiders in early 1974 however ... I don't believe the Jets would have beaten the Cowboys in early 19...
