Re: Top 10 Defensive Players of All Time

The only complete game I've ever seen of Page was SB VIII. I only saw it once and I certainly didn't analyze it for line play, but at a high level I'd say the Dolphins neutralized him. Fair tor not, I'm always impressed when players have great games in big games. I'm glad to see Hein and Cal Hubbard...

Re: Mount Rushmore of NFL(-ish) Video Games

I remembered one more - Intellivision football! Back in the day, most kids had an Atari 2600, but for sports games, Intellivision was the far superior system. And I think football was actually the most sophisticated of the sports games they offered as you actually used the keypad to punch in numbers...

Re: Mount Rushmore of NFL(-ish) Video Games

Great thread! Thanks. I still play APF2K8 when I can find the time - I love playing with historical players like Deacon Jones, Hugh McElhenny, Joe Perry, Sammy Baugh, Otto Graham, etc. Also, Tecmo Bowl can be played on a TV like the old days - the Japanese version is available for download on the Wi...

Re: Top 100 Pro Football Books of All-Time

I too thought this was a great idea and really appreciate that Mr. Willis put his list out there. I really enjoyed it. Some random thoughts: -very glad to see the Jaworski book at 87, always thought that was a great find that others probably hadn't read - nice combination of Xs and Os, mini bios, pl...

Re: DuMont Network NFL Broadcast Question(s)

Thanks everyone. JohnR, this:"I paid $50 for this?!" made me laugh - good point. On a side note, you've probably seen it, but the long Dutch Clark TD run from the 35 championship game is available from a few sources - pm me if you need me to dig up a link. Finally, sorry if I hijacked/went...

Re: DuMont Network NFL Broadcast Question(s)

Thanks guys - I always wanted to have this discussion. Honestly, my best source for old footage is YouTube. The Sneaker game highlights have been up there for years and I have a few other favorites. I've also made some (granted not persistent) attempts to track down old footage myself. I called the ...

Re: DuMont Network NFL Broadcast Question(s)

My experience was great - I ordered 4 DVDs - the quality was very good, well packaged etc. The thing I was wondering is take Youtube for example, I've seen cases where an NFL game is there one day and another day it's down and there is a message about copyright. I find this kind of annoying because ...

Re: DuMont Network NFL Broadcast Question(s)

I bought some of the Tel Ra productions from a company called Rare Sports Films. I have no affiliation with them, I talked to the owner - he was helpful - I even asked him about the copyright and he said that he has a lawyer to make sure on that kind of stuff. I had no interest in digging into it - ...

HOF web site

I guess its been a while since I was there, but its definitely different. I guess its "modern", but I liked it when it was simple and I could basically see everything about a player just by switching among a few tabs - I think there was a tab for stats, one for playoffs, maybe one other on...

Re: Sporting News Top 10 HOF snubs

Thanks - I just submitted my 2016 nominations after seeing the ad in my first Coffin Corner and I was curious about the process.
