Re: Thoughts on '90 NYG@SF MNF and upcoming KC@Rams
Based on that rant/not a rant thread from earlier this season, I thought there would be a lot of bitterness and disgust over this Chiefs-Rams game. The NFL is a business and the consumer will have the final word. I do believe the NFL will suffer in the long run if offense continues to escalate. Sur...

Non-head coach nominees for HOVG?
Eddie Kotal: player, backfield coach, scout. I could begin to write up reasons he should be in the HOVG, but can he be? I don't see any coaches on the list who were not head coaches. He probably wouldn't be in the HOVG based on his playing days alone.

Re: Eddie Kotal
I'm writing the chapter on Eddie Kotal for the 1951 Rams book, and I just had to share this photo. I think the action that this photo captures is just so much fun to absorb. This is a football game between Lawrence College, where Eddie Kotal played college ball, versus The La Crosse State Normal Sch...

Re: Best Service for Online Newspaper Research
Interesting coincidence. I was dealing with this very question myself today. If you an get access to a nearby university library you can cruise their database subscriptions, which is another option. My university librarian confirmed for me today that there really isn't one service that covers everyt...

AAF draft to leverage fan interest in regional QBs
“Quarterbacks have been allocated by region based on where they played college football or last NFL/CFL team. If they went to school outside of an Alliance team's area the player will essentially be a free agent. “The draft will begin with each team deciding which, if any, quarterbacks that have bee...

Re: The pace of change - CFL going global in search of talen
Commissioner Ambrosie of the CFL is doing his job by getting the league into the news, I guess. But I'm sorry, Mr. A., a league that plays its season from February to April isn't "taking away talent" or fans from a league that whose training camp starts in May and whose Grey Cup wraps up ...

Re: The pace of change - CFL going global in search of talen
No, of course, it’s not calamity. But we’ve experienced nearly a decade of steady decline in participation, which is why I asked for opinions about how things might need to change in recruitment at the pro level decades into the future, after most of us in this forum might already be dead. Thinking ...

The pace of change - CFL going global in search of talent
Here is a link to an interesting interview with the commissioner of the CFL. With the new Alliance of American Football attracting talent, the CFL is facing a talent shortage. Apparently the CFL hopes to find a way to tap into more global talent the way soccer does and hockey has. And this makes me ...

Re: Hope this doesn't sound like a rant ...
Mean Joe Greene says he couldn’t play in today’s NFL. https://www.forbes.com/sites/terencemoore/2018/10/25/joe-greene-says-hed-be-too-mean-for-modern-nfl/ I think if someone shows him Kalil Macks salary, he'd change his mind. ;) No, his point is that his style of play wouldn’t be allowed. He was ef...

The New York Post has a lengthy article on the offensive explosion.
