Re: Falcons at Rams NFCCG, 1978

I just can't understand why the Cowboys could do so well against the Rams but not the Steelers? I know they lost in 1976 and 1979/80 ... but ... They won easily in the Coliseum in 1975 and 1978/79 but couldn't control Swann-Stallworth in the SB ... did the two week layoff help the Steelers more? Cou...

Re: An overlooked running back performance

That's one of the reasons Dillon has a good HOF case ... how many backs can claim a SB win, the all-time time best rushing game against the Broncos and all-time best rushing game as a rookie against the Titans? A great player for a bad team, who had to block more than receive on third down? We can o...

I think Wilson and Lynch will make the Hall but may wait awhile.
If Wilson struggles in Pittsburgh, his starting career could be over.
I feel he will take them to the Super Bowl. You heard it here first ... haha ...

Re: Falcons at Rams NFCCG, 1978

The Rams had always worried about the Cowboys but would have taken care of business against the Falcons, I believe. Yes, Atlanta would have been sky-high but their offense didn't match well with the Rams defense and like was pointed out by CS, they couldn't win in the Coliseum or Anaheim. The Rams d...

Re: Giants doing top 100 players ... have released 91-100

JuggernautJ is right ... with Tunnell, Hein and Taylor, each could be #1, it's very close. Many will take Taylor which is understandable. Eli will probably be top 5, but Conerly, Tittle and Simms had better winning pcts as starters. People forget Simms was part of two championships. Then there are t...

Re: Giants doing top 100 players ... have released 91-100

My Top 6 Giants

#5 -- Gifford
#4 -- Robustelli/R Brown tied
#3 -- Taylor
#2 -- Hein
#1 -- Tunnell

Yes, Robustelli starred with the Rams first, but the Giants defense became great as soon as he joined them in 1956. He had to have easily had over 100 sacks based upon his numbers from the 1960s.

Re: Weakest Dolphin playoff team?

In 2008, the Jets started out 8-3 before Brett Favre hurt his shoulder, I believe. They went into a slump that helped Miami win the division. Had Favre stayed healthy and led them to the division title, would he have went to Minnesota?

Re: Is the following record unbreakable?

Ironically, Lewellen's punting prowess is probably why he isn't in the HOF. Known more as a punter than the first player to officially score over 50 TDs. Once Hutson broke open the career record, Lewellen's achievement got more forgotten over the years. He should have been voted in by 1975.

Re: Seven Post Merger AP All Pro Club

I believe the Chargers offensive line was special but hard to garner accolades for the linemen with names like Webster, Shell, Hannah, Stephenson, Upshaw, Deirdorf, Langer and others getting attention.

Russ Washington came close to HOVG election last year but wasn't nominated this year. Go figure?

Re: 21st Century SB Champs who'd do well (WIN) vs some 20th Century SB Champs?

The Legion Of Boom would be a good subject for a Coffins Corner article. Soooo close to a repeat championship, though giving up 4 TDs to Brady and NE has to eat at their hearts and minds. Still ... 2011 #7 in scoring defense 2012 #1 2013 #1 2014 #1 2015 #1 2016 #3 The SB and playoff losses --31-24 l...
