Re: John Madden
John Madden's greatest legacy is the video game. By putting his name on the video game, he legitimized it, while forcing EA Sports to have 11 players per team or else he wasn't doing it. The video game exploded in popularity, and now (even with the annual cries of how the game stinks) it is a cultur...

Thursday oddity
The Packers and Lions are playing each other on Thursday for a second time this season. Has this ever happened before, where two teams met on Thursdays twice in the same season? Or have two teams met on Monday night twice in the same year?

Re: NFL's only 4-point game (100 years ago)
As an aside, I think the hardest score possible in football is 10-1. That requires a one-point defensive safety (which would never realistically happen) and then it would require two more safeties for the leading team without any other points. You could simulate a million games and that score wouldn...

NFL's only 4-point game (100 years ago)
As a follower of the whole Scorigami craze, I noticed that there is just one game in NFL history where a team scored exactly 4 points. Racine Legion 10, Chicago Cardinals 4. And it happened exactly 100 years ago next week. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/192311250crd.htm Believe it ...

Re: SB’s 21/22/24- more competitive if no DEN?
It seemed that back then once a team fell behind in the SB they would panic and wilt. I remembered someone saying then that if teams would treat it more like a regular season game and not get into the hype they would be better off. I wonder if teams have made a point to take that approach in the pa...

Re: Jets-VS-Giants history
They've had some memorable moments in recent years, too. I think it was 2007 where the game came down to a field goal with :00 left in overtime? [Edit: Nope, 2003.] And then 2011 had Victor Cruz's 99-yd reception that turned around that game and got the Giants to 8-7, and of course they won the Supe...

Re: JAX two straight weeks in London
This is actually better for the players than if they had to fly to London in September, fly back to Jacksonville, then fly back to London in late October. You can argue that making a team play 2 games in London is too much, but if they're going to play 2 in London, might as well get them over with i...

Re: 2023 season, Week 1
Rodgers says he'll be back, and I believe him. I just don't think he's going to be his whole self again. He will need the Jets to set up an offense similar to that of Big Ben's final years in Pittsburgh. He was a stationary quarterback and the Steelers knew it, so they made it so that he almost neve...

Re: The best, and the worst, NFL season thus far this century?
Best: 2007
You had the 16-0 Patriots, the enormous upset in the Super Bowl (which was one of the best ever played, if not the best), Brett Favre's renaissance year, the Cowboys' fantastic season, the Chargers, the Colts... it was a fantastic season.
Worst: 2020
For obvious reasons.

Re: Herschel has found some rivals...
Has anyone mentioned the John Hadl trade yet? The Packers gave the Rams a 1, 2, and 3 in '75 and a 1 and 2 in 76. He never made the playoffs in Green Bay, to say the least.
