Re: Cornell Green (Cowboy DB) Question

Preston Pearson only played college basketball at Illinois, yet he played 14 seasons in the NFL and was the first player to play in the Super Bowl for three different teams. There are some players who didn't attended college and plyed for some years in the NFL (Otis Sistrunk, Ray Seals, Eric Swann, ...

Re: Duane Thomas fumble in SB V

30 years ago I recorded all NFL Films Super Bowl until then in my Beta recorder. I was amazed to see Manders knelt with the ball, but I recall in the highlights seeing Craig Morton and another player arguing to line judge Jack Fette (no. 39) who awarded the ball to the Colts immediatily after Duane ...

Re: Historic catches that wouldn't be catches today

I remember very well a TD catch made by Raiders WR Dokie Williams in a game vs. Pittsburgh in the mid-80s when he only got a foot down (he was lightly pushed and the other feet went out of bounds). The refs called that Williams was pushed and that was the reaon he couldn't come with both feet down a...

Re: They Picked Up the Flag!

Two rounds of the playoffs in the books, and after each round the general conversation has been more about officiating and the rule book than the actual games. Unfortunate. You're right, and remember, these officials were the best all year (for the record, there are 17 crews, and only the top 10 in...

Re: Historic catches that wouldn't be catches today

I am a Cowboys fan and I admit that under the current rules it was the cotrect call, but three things bother me: 1) In every one of these overturned catches (Calvin Johnson vs. Chicago, Louis Murphy vs. San Diego, Dez Bryant vs. Green Bay) the refs in the field marked completion. it was later, under...

Re: Ice Bowl questions

I guess it depends on WHEN a decision would have been made to move the game to a neutral site. Unless there had been a general rule that winter (i.e. playoff) games could never be played in Green Bay, it's not a decision that could have been made too far in advance. It's one thing to schedule a neu...

I also wonder if Junior Seau's suicide will count against him. I'll bet that he won't get close to 100% votes, but enough to get in.

Re: PFHOF Finalists

I think that Kurt Warner could be a dark horse this year. Remember: he brought the Rams and Cardinals to the Super Bowl when both teams were stagnant for a number of years and specially, in their new homes. His career is much different that most quarterbacks, due to his peeks and lows, and the fact ...

Re: Jethro Pugh

In 2010, Pugh signed me a photograph at Cowboys Stadium. Such a nice guy, it's a shame that the didn't get a Pro Bowl nod in his career due to playing alongside Hall of Famers Bob Lilly and Randy White.
