Agreed. He's on the 80s All-Decade team, for some odd reason, which is probably why he got this far. As is John Anderson, another LB headscratcher.

Fred Taylor, Rickey Watters, Clay Matthews, and Simeon Rice are other non-starters for me as well.

Re: Another "he changed the game claim"

Wasn't Art Shell the first African-American head coach with a significant career? If so, that might qualify him as being a "game changer," if not as a player.

Kick step for OT

John Turney wrote an article at his website about OT Elijah Wilkinson, who uses something called a kick step. Is this a good thing, bad thing, or neutral thing? What, if anything, would a lineman stand to gain from it? The article doesn’t say. Just curious.

Thanks!

Re: Who is on your NFL broadcast “dream team?”

Make them stop team? How about Howard Cosell, Dennis Miller, and Tony Kornheiser?

Re: Good Position Groups on Bad Teams

Would the Saints Dome Patrol LB corps of Sam Mills, Vaughan Johnson, Rickey Jackson, and Pat Swilling qualify?

Re: Browns Steelers fight

I totally agree. We've got people here semi-justifying Garrett by suggesting that football is such a competitive and emotional sport that sometimes a guy just has to rip off his helmet and attack somebody with it, and we've got people saying that Rudolph should just lie there waiting for Garrett to...

Re: Browns Steelers fight

I have no problem with the punishment doled out. If anything, I’d additionally suspend Rudolph a game for starting the whole thing by grabbing Garret’s face mask. But the rest seem very reasonable. Garrett should be suspended the remainder of the season. Pouncey should be suspended three games and m...

Re: NFL 100 All-Time Team

I won't post a 100 list, but I'll venture to guess a third of the players on the list will be active players, because they HAVE to show footage of Odell Beckham Jr. and all the other contemporary receivers making one handed catches with the stickum gloves because Paul Warfield and Don Hutson and Je...

Concur. The best to hope for now might be a pre-50s threesome of Duke Slater, Al Wistert, and Lavvie Dilweg. I'll take that, if a bit reluctantly. Cross fingers.
