Re: 1982 NFL salary trivia
Really interesting with the Broncos and Colts there because of the upcoming 83 Draft. Charlie Johson, Randy Logan, Jack Rudnay, never would have guessed those guys. Really only remembered Rudnay. Again, fun questions!

Re: Neal Anderson
Great discussion, everyone. I plan to throw Anderson's name in the ring for my next HOVG nominations. IMHO, he belongs. And I'm certainly not a Bears fan, but to me, he has always been a greatly underrated player.

Re: 1982 NFL salary trivia
Here are some questions based on 1982 NFL player salaries: 1) The highest paid player on the Vikings intercepted 3 passes in 1980. Name him. 2) The highest paid player was a QB who won zero games in 1982. 3) One of the Vikings who was making the league minimum ended up making 6 pro bowls. 4) The te...

Re: Mike Evans will probably never be first-team All-Pro
I remember reading in the 2022 Record and Fact book that if Evans got 1,000 yards that season, he would be the only player in history other than Jerry Rice to gain 1,000 yards his first nine seasons. And only Jerry Rice and Tim Brown had ever gotten 9 straight. Now, Evans is at 10 straight and has a...

Re: Dallas VS San Diego, SBXIV (1979)
Yeah, as much as I love thinking of the possibility of the Coryell Chargers winning the Super Bowl, I don't think they could execute as well as Dallas in that big of a game. Luck can turn anything around but if you're talking about just straight up being able to be better fundamentally on that day i...

Re: Future Hall of Very Good players
Roethlisberger HOVG? Seriously? Were we watching the same games? I'm not a Steelers fan, but there was never a doubt in my mind that that guy was HOF caliber while he played. Agree with Ryan and Rivers for HOVG. Those guys are exactly HOVG caliber, IMO. Flacco is another guy that I think fits nicely...

Re: Best-ever KICKOFF kickers?
Like mentioned before - this is an awesome question! I don't have the data to back this up but I seem to remember Steve Christie being very good at getting touchbacks nearly every time. And that's going to limit long KO returns. Hard to really define this because special teams defense comes into pla...

Re: '84 Broncos discussion
Steve Watson is a hugely underrated possession receiver from that era. Excellent hands, made a lot of important catches. People tend to forget just how good the AFC West was in those days - mid to late 80s. SD still had Fouts and Coryell, 3 receivers over 700 yards, PLUS Kellen Wnslow at TE, Chuck M...

Re: Pre-1966 NFL Championship Game MVPs
I'd think Otto Graham might have been likely for 1950 for the late drive. Although Lou Groza might have been the choice. Maybe Bobby Layne for the 1953 game for his late TD pass. I don't know if there were game MVPs handed out in the earlier eras. I remember hearing that Taylor won the 65 award, but...
