Re: 1983 Chargers
The defense was atrocious. They played a 3-4 The Chargers usually played a base zone, Classic Tom Bass. I think there were the things you mentioned plus the philosophical differences between players and Bass, and also fit. Bass wanted to run a Tampa-like defense and in 2nd year got to do it full ti...

Thank you
Interesting artifact from the Aug. 12, 1968 edition of Broadcasting magazine. It includes a team-by-team rundown of flagship stations, announcers, and sponsors, as well as information about what networks paid to broadcast pro and college football. The article starts on page 23. https://www.worldrad...

1975 Oilers- Same 10-4 record as Miami and actually beat them H2H (that famous NFL Films clip of Bum Phillips/Ronnie Coleman after the winning TD). If the 2nd WC of the late 70s had been around, they would have gotten in at the Dolphins expense Playing the the Steelers' and Bengals' division, too

Re: 1974 Dallas Cowboys
But in 1974…… what went wrong? Maybe getting old on defense at a few positions, and replacements maybe a year away. Mostly, a rash of turnovers early in games they could have won if they'd taken care of the ball. Had they won a couple of them, rather than losing (could have gone either way) they'd ...
