Re: Giants doing top 100 players ... have released 91-100
Is Barnes hurt by the bad playoff record? 0-6 in championship games, only 1 INT in the playoffs. I mainly remember him complaining about calls from the highlights. He never had the big play, Eastern Conference was weaker during his playing days. I don't think the people voting would have done that ...

Re: Positions Played - 1950's Ram
He definitely played LB and DE -- if he played nose or middle guard I don't recall it at least from 1950-52 ... would have to check in any event it was not a lot of defense for him, no matter the position. He was mostly a guard who was backing up other positions. And he was on special teams most of ...

Re: Giants doing top 100 players ... have released 91-100
Am I crazy to think Erich Barnes is ranked too low Not crazy. Very reasonable. Did his best work as NYG ... if they are putting guys who played 2½ years as a NYG ahead of him ... then him playing for Chi and Cle cannot be held against him. If they hadn't put Cal Hubbard to high, then maybe you coul...

I'd suppose that's Charlie Joiner.SeahawkFever wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 2:16 am
Would that make Culp one of the last players to retire who had played in the old AFL pre-merger?

Re: Seven Post Merger AP All Pro Club
The thing that surprised me the most about the 79 Oilers was that Curley Culp played that late into the 70’s. He’s typically mentioned as part of the Red Wood Forest Chiefs, and I didn’t realize he played that far after that. He did. Was part of Oilers' push in mid-1970s ... Hewas traded for Tooz a...

1979 Oilers 1st Team: RB - Earl Campbell LT - Leon Gray FS - Mike Reinfeldt ROLB - Robert Brazille K - Toni Fritsch 2nd Team: NT - Curley Culp DE - Elvin Bethea Bethea got a gift. 1979 was not one of his best years. A rookie got more of a rush than Bethea at that point. I don't know what happened b...

I didn't know, so I looked it up and found Hunt --- but also going way back -- Doug Russell --- but seems like he's the one.

Re: Rank all Buffalo Bills playoff teams, #23 to #1
I don't think that Frontiere wanted to win as much as Eddie D. did. That's for sure -- Georgia wanted her money. Winning was secondary. They were very cheap. Even in 1981 when they finally started paying people -- in the 1980s Raiders made a lot more than Rams at similar positions, similar stage in...
