Re: NFL 100th anniversary

I was contacted over the summer by someone from the league inquiring about Buffalo's Canisius Villa (where the All-Americans played their first few years) and the possibility of shooting some footage there as part of a series of pieces to be done in each of the original franchise cities. We spoke a...

Re: 1963 NFL Coaches Meeting

I'm sure they were all drinking iced tea. Great piece of history. I know the NFL has Owners meetings, but is that the only time they ever had a Coaches meeting? I think it makes sense to get all the head coaches together once a year for a day to go over new rules changes, etc and talk about issues ...

Re: new uniforms for 2018

In case anybody missed it last week, the Jets will have new uniforms in 2019. The new look will be unveiled in April. I hope they switch back to a green helmet. They already have two white-helmeted teams in their division (Dolphins and Jets). On a side note, I would also love to see NE switch to a ...

Re: Astroturf

Though now when I watch an old NY/NJ Knights game or something Giants Stadium makes me laugh, not just the always ridiculous red NJ Meadowlands logo but the color of the field when I put in the old VHS tape and watch it on an HDTV is so bad it's funny. The 1991 San Antonio Riders also had a ridicul...

Re: Bills snow game

The snowfall in the first quarter of yesterday's Colts-Bills game was especially bad, about the worse I've ever seen in a NFL game. It's amazing just how much snow was actually on the field. A few years back I compiled a list of NFL snow games. With that said I'd say yesterday's snow game was the wo...

Re: New NFL Network Top 10 Greatest Teams

All I'm saying is that I think the Packers' schedule was soft, even with the consecutive road games factored in. They only had two games against teams with winning records. Granted there were only three teams out of 12 with winning records that year. Lambeau had a lot of reasons for why the Packers ...

Re: New NFL Network Top 10 Greatest Teams

The '29 Packers had a great season but there wasn't a lot of strong competition in the league that year. It was the Packers and Giants at the top. Every other team was simply mediocre or just downright awful. Third-place Frankford lost three games to the Giants by a combined score of 0-75. The Cardi...

Re: Stadium Size

In 1967 the Broncos and Raiders played a preseason game at a high school stadium in North Platte, Nebraska. It was reported that only 10,046 seats were available, with only 6,500 people showing up for the game. The Sacramento Surge (Hughes Stadium, Hornet Field) and San Antonio Riders (Alamo Stadium...

Re: Last position player to punt?

This query I put together using PFR's Play Index reveals a lot of interesting facts on this topic. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=single&year_min=1920&year_max=2017&season_start=1&season_end=-1&age_min=0&age_max=0&pos=q...
