Re: Seniors
I'm not quite old enough to remember Harold Jackson with the Rams - I do remember him with the Patriots. And those teams I associate with Stanley Morgan at receiver more than Harold Jackson. I like Jackson from looking at his accomplishments, however. I do feel a need to point out that Charlie Join...

Re: Seniors
I could see why having your prime years split between three different teams hurts; especially before free agency. You mention retired numbers, well in Jackson's case in particular, he played some prime years for the Rams, and wore number 29. A number that has since been retired for Eric Dickerson. ...

Re: Two receiver seasons with a parallel; 70 years apart
Hirsch's season was better, because he also led the league in yards per catch, more than 2 yards ahead of second place. Kupp ranked 33rd in that category. Of course there were a lot more teams, but he was almost 5 yards behind the leader. So Hirsch wins. Hirsch did indeed lead the league in yards p...

Two receiver seasons with a parallel; 70 years apart
There are two receiver seasons that I have been noticing a parallel about lately: Cooper Kupp in 2021, and Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch in 1951. Both players played for the Rams in Los Angeles. Both players were named a pro bowl and first team all pro in their season. Both players led the leag...

Re: Seniors
Not to diminish the careers of any Hall of Fame receivers in the 70's at all, but other than Harold Charmichael, just about every other receiver who made the Hall of Fame and who played a significant amount of their career in the 70's had a prime Hall of Fame quarterback throwing to them at some po...

Re: Seniors
Good call Jackson ... John Gilliam was just as much a deep threat as Harold Jackson but was also hurt by going to multiple teams. Had he stayed with the Vikings, instead of going to Atlanta, his numbers might have compared with Jackson's as well, but his career ended with injuries after leaving the...

Re: '41 VS '85 BEARS (for their time)??
If you ask me, the 41 Bears might compare better for their time (though it was earlier on, and if I'm not mistaken World War II took some players off of rosters by that point?), but both the 41 and 85 Bears absolutely dominated their respective seasons.

Re: Top, and Worst, Ten teams of the 14-game era, '61-thru-'77?
1973 Rams were not that good IMO for being 12-2. Only played 2 playoff teams. Lost to Vikings and beat Cowboys. Split with the 9-5 Falcons. Avoided all of the good AFC teams. Except for McCutcheon, every starter started all 14 games. So no adversity there. Didn't pass all that much. Apparently Hadl...

Re: NFL MVP's who didn't deserve to win
How about Brian Sipe in 1980?
No knock on his season, but Lester Hayes in that same season might have deserved more consideration considering how many picks he had.

Re: Seniors
That is certainly an interesting thing to consider. The thing that is unfortunate is that target data for most 1970's receivers is unavailable. Drops (or at the very least missed passes to his side of the field could be captured by catch percentages). The question of better player vs better career i...
