You'll notice I said "or don't know what being a QB entails", so I'm not sure why so defensive?King Kong wrote:So?Reaser wrote:Always seems QB lists are compiled by people who never played the position and/or don't know what being a QB entails.
I never played quarterback. Would my list (if I did one) be automatically dismissed by ex-quarterback readers?
As Rupert put it, seemingly went off of fantasy football/stats. Along the same lines - on the old forums - we would semi-frequently get those who would come in and say Bobby Layne wasn't even good because "look at his stats" or that Sammy Baugh threw too many ints so he can't be one of the best passers of all-time(to-date), which doubles as being ignorant of the position(s) & the era they played in, for those specific examples.
Lot goes into playing Quarterback. The "never played" aspect is just humorous, to me. Someone acts like an expert on the subject and reveals their list and I personally find it funny that if we put them out with a center that they wouldn't know how to even take a snap, something that simple (for those that have taken snaps from under center, before) ... or give someone just one day of install and at the end of the day test them on how many plays they've mastered, not just what they themselves do on each play, but what EVERY position on the offense is doing, including all adjustments ...and that's without getting into if they can even read defenses, if they can spit out the plays in the huddle, and so on, it would be laughable how little most would handle. As laughable as putting together a defining list/ranking would be without the author having any real knowledge of the topic he is covering.
