does anyone have the date the HOF will announce its senior nominees?

No, but Johnny Robinson of the Chiefs and Mike Curtis of the Colts both need to be on it.

Randy Gradishar
Jerry Kramer
Mick Tingelhoff

All, IMO, before Curtis although he had one of the best KOs of a dopey fan.

Easley and Kramer or Howley . . .

Everyone knows the list will grow longer - never shorter and never shortened to a manageable number.
They have shown they are willing to lower the bar, witness Little and Reed.
They have shown they are willing to change the angle of the bar and get Lebeau in at the low end.
So, what is the sense of setting the bar?

IMO, it should be a small hall - much smaller - allowing only the truly elite but those who were truly elite among their contemporaries.

But a small and truly elite hall will not sell a lot of T-shirts - and that, me buckos, is what it is all about.
How many Al Wistert or Duke Slater replica jerseys would they sell? Two? Four? None?
That's what matters to them - not peer comparison. Who can remember their peers? No one! just a few people looking at numbers on a page - and faded numbers at that.

So, perhaps it is time to play "Monkey See, Monkey Do?"
Baseball did it. Football can do it.

Every decade, play catch up. Let each senior voter pick a player and put him in. It won't water the place down any more than it already is.

Which way to the Ladies' Room?

Probably the third week in August. Usually Wednesday or Thursday.

If I had to guess, I would say Tingelhoff and Howley would be the two this year. Since they just put in Robinson, I doubt they would put in Kramer this year.

Of course, my preference is Dilweg.

Here are the dates of the last five announcements:

2010: 8/25/09
2011: 8/25/10
2012: 8/24/11
2013: 8/22/12
2014: 8/21/13

Thus, using Ken's assessment, August 20 seems like the date to watch.

Dick Stanfel (1993, 2012) and Marshall Goldberg (1979, 2008) are the only two senior nominees to be nominated twice and still be on the outside.

Here's hoping that Ox Emerson is one of them this year. If I were to guess, Chuck Howley and Mick Tingelhoff.

....no doubt we all can make a list of ten men that are at deserving of consideration. how many from our lists would be consensus choices? when I voted for the all-time top 100 players, was allowed to include 3 write-in candidates....jack butler, randy g. and chuck h. ok, much to my surprise my boy jack is in....so, even though would like to see kramer, and mick t. in....will stick with my two top choices.

I feel Chuck Howley is the most deserving senior candidate.

You will be happy to know that a senior selector asked me, "So, what can you tell me about Ox Emerson?"

Unfortunately, there will only be one senior nominee this year. My guess would be Tingelhoff.
"It was a different game when I played.
When a player made a good play, he didn't jump up and down.
Those kinds of plays were expected."
