Re: Weird stats
I have a distinct memory of this one! My wife & I were on our honeymoon. Road trip out west. 9 states, 11 national parks. Sunday 9/12 was kickoff weekend, which the only way I could find out what happened was to pick up a paper in Provo, Utah that Monday. Looking over the box scores I saw Bettis' line. I thought: "What the heck!? How is that possible!?"Jerome Bettis, Steelers, 9/12/04: 5 rushes, 1 yard, 3 TDs

Re: Weird stats
In fairness to Bettis, his per-rush average would have been higher if it weren't for the goal line getting in the way.ChrisBabcock wrote:I have a distinct memory of this one! I remember watching this one on TV. There were heavy winds and some rain. The Bills won 16-12. O.J. Simpson gained 117 yards in 31 carries. Re: Weird stats
Hank Bauer's 1979 season with the Chargers: 8 TD's on just 28 yards rushing. Bauer was primarily a special teamer whom the Bolts put in at RB in goal line situations because of his exceptional leaping ability.

Re: Weird stats
Butch Rolle's career stats. 11 TDs on 38 receptions. With Buffalo it was 10 TDs on 15 receptions. Much like the player listed above. Only used in goal line situations. Great hands. (needless to say.)

Packers turn the ball over eight times to Chicago's one. Green Bay wins, 13-10.
