FB-K Pat Harder---first man to score 100 pts in 3 straight seasons (1947-49 with Cardinals), led NFL each year. In 1952 Harder, now with Lions, set a postseason single-game record with 19 pts (2 TD, 4 XP, 1 FG) in playoff win over Rams.

The Lions of the early '50s were loaded with kickers who did other things. The 1952 squad alone had Harder, Doak Walker, Bobby Layne, Jim Martin, and Pat Summerall.

Jerry Kramer helped win the 1962 NFL Championship Game with his field goals for the Packers.

Jim Turner was listed on the N.Y. Jets depth chart as a back-up quarterback in the mid 1960's. He completed 2 of 4 passes for 25 yards in 1967.

Yeah, great point. That kind of thing wasn't uncommon either. I know Mark Moseley was Joe Gibbs' "emergency quarterback." A lot of times, NFL kickers had been QBs in high school or college. Moseley was an excellent HS QB. I'm guessing that Turner likely played in HS and/or college as well.
