The 282nd touchdown-free game (MIN-LV 12/10/23)

Post by JWL »

Today's Vikings-Raiders game was the first 3-0 NFL game since the 2007 Dolphins-Steelers game which was played in a quagmire.

For those who watched this game, can you please explain the 14-yard punt at the end of the game? I'm thinking there was a botched snap of an attempted field goal.

3-7-LV 31 (1:02) T.Chandler up the middle to LV 28 for 3 yards (J.Tillery; B.Nichols).
Timeout #3 by MIN at 00:18.
4-4-LV 28 (:18) (Field Goal formation) G.Joseph punts 14 yards to LV 14, Center-A.DePaola. C.Bolton pushed ob at LV 31 for 17 yards (C.Darrisaw).
Las Vegas Raiders at 0:07
(:07) (Shotgun) A.O'Connell pass short left to D.Adams to MIN 45 for 24 yards. Lateral to G.Van Roten to MIN 40 for 5 yards. FUMBLES,
touched at MIN 40, RECOVERED by MIN-J.Ward at MIN 40.
Was this maybe tied for the closest to the end zone punt in modern league history? (Bill Parcells had the Patriots punt on the Jets 28-yard line in a 1993 game.)

In other news, for those who play fantasy football with individual defensive players- what is up with the projections? Yahoo projected Ivan Pace Jr. to score 0 fantasy points today. I was not fazed by that. I started him and he scored 27.5 points under our league's settings. I also started Devon Witherspoon. Unfortunately, he got hurt but Yahoo projects him for 5.something points every week and almost every week he scores in double digits at least under my league's settings.

Direct snap to Joseph out of FG formation. Planned 'pooch' punt, wasn't executed all that well.

Has to be a record for a game played in perfect climate-controlled conditions?

Happy for Nick Mullens though. He has scrapped around for awhile now. Niners fans thought he had promise before injuries stunted his development. The Vikings should still start Dobbs next week and keep his confidence up ...

I believe you're right. I read that somewhere today (can't find the source).

Thanks. I still haven't watched it. Hopefully, I'll have time Friday night to look for it.
